Anisa Draboo

Chief Strategy and Impact Officer

Anisa has had an unusual career during which she has been a young city planner, an early responder at disaster zones, and has commissioned documentaries by globally acclaimed directors.

She has been a development professional and an occasional commentator who has been part of prominent non-government organisations in the programme-policy-advocacy-communication space for almost two decades.

Anisa began her professional life in Srinagar after completing two Masters - in Geography from Jamia Millia Islamia and in Regional Planning from School of Planning and Architecture. She went on to do her third Masters in City Planning, from Cornell University, where she was an International Ford Foundation Fellow.

She plunged into the world of non-profits and has worked with, among others, the World Bank, Oxfam and Landesa. Her work involved doing media advocacy, training journalists on specific social issues, and collaborating with documentary filmmakers that included Academy Award winners.

Documentary films commissioned under Anisa have been screened at international film festivals that scooped awards as well.

Anisa is a founding member of Confluence Media.
